SCI151L CM - The Planet’s Unseen MajorityMicrobes are present almost everywhere on earth, and microbial communities (microbiomes) play important environmental roles, ranging from biogeochemical cycling processes to impacting human health. This computational biology course will introduce students to concepts in genome analysis and computational methods for analyzing DNA sequence data generated from microbiome samples, with a goal of studying microbial diversity, evolution, and function. Students will
analyze microbiomes from different environments, including water, soil, and human. This course will provide training to students in genomic concepts related to health, planet, and brain. There will be a computational lab associated with this class.
Prerequisites: SCI 031LACM , SCI 031LBCM , SCI 050L CM , and SCI 114L CM
