SCI050L CM - Computing for DiscoveryThis course develops computing concepts and skills that are broadly applicable in the natural sciences and, in particular, to the themes of health, brain, and planet. Topics include acquisition and curation of data in a variety of formats, data visualization and interpretation, machine learning concepts and their applications and limitations, and communication of results to diverse audiences. Throughout the course, students work with datasets from different scientific and other domains to make discoveries and predictions. The course culminates with capstone group projects on topics selected by the students in consultation with the instructor. There will be a computational lab associated with this class.
Prerequisite: SCI 030LACM and SCI 030LBCM or permission of instructor
