These courses are the second in a two-semester sequence that emphasizes how the integration of core concepts from biology, chemistry, and physics, and the use of both experimental and computational methods, are necessary explore themes of health, brain, and planet. For example, the concepts of acid-base equilibrium, redox, and electrochemistry are necessary to understand energy storage in batteries, cell metabolism, action potentials, physiological equilibria, and elemental cycling in the environment. Combined, the concurrent courses include a total of 6 hours of lecture and 6-8 hours of lab per week.
