PHIL 100A CM - Classical PhilosophyThis course introduces students to some of the earliest, most profound, and most influential thinkers in the Western philosophical tradition. The focus of the course is methodological, its goal to teach students skills which will enable them to develop their own interpretation and critiques of classical philosophical texts. We will focus on the works of Plato, Aristotle, the Stoics, and the Skeptics. Some of the questions we will address will be what philosophy is, what one should aim at in life, what kinds of things exist, and what can be known.
