PHYS 178 KS - BiophysicsAn examination of biological systems from the point of view of classical physics, including mechanics, thermodynamics, and electromagnetism. Topics may include molecular diffusion, low-Reynolds number hydrodynamics, cooperative transitions in biomolecules, the mechanism of nerve impulses, the physics of vision and hearing, and principles of medical imaging and radiation therapy.
Prerequisites: BIOL 043L KS ; CHEM 014L KS & CHEM 015L KS or CHEM 029L KS ;PHYS 030L KS & PHYS 031L KS or PHYS 033L KS & PHYS 034L KS ; or both semesters of AISS ; or permission of instructor.
