LIT 062 CM - Shakespeare’s TragediesThis course will treat the development of Shakespeare’s tragic dramas and explore the nature of tragedy. We will read seven works by Shakespeare and three by his contemporaries Marlowe, Tourneur, and Webster. Shakespeare’s contribution to tragedy will be studied partly in the context of ancient and medieval as well as Renaissance conceptions of tragedy.
