HIST 173 AF - Black Intellectuals and the Politics of RaceThis course explores the varied ways in which scientific racism functioned against African Americans in the United States from the mid-19th to mid-20th centuries and addresses African American intellectuals’ response to biological racism through explicit racial theories and less explicit means such as slave narratives, novels, essays, and films.
