SCI152 CM - Biodiversity Across Space and TimeBiodiversity loss is one of the most pressing issues of the 21st century. This course introduces different approaches to quantify biodiversity, and explains the a biotic (e.g., climate and geological processes) and biotic (e.g., ecology and physiology) factors that regulate biodiversity. Central to the course is the focus on patterns across space (local to global) and time (from generations to geologic time). Students will analyze biodiversity with a variety of techniques, including, e.g., genomic, computational, and paleontological approaches, and discuss the societal consequences of biodiversity loss.
