• ECON 101 CM  and ECON 102 CM  require completion of basic calculus at the level of MATH030 CM - Calculus I , or higher.
• ECON 150 CM
    requires the completion of
  ECON 086 CM
   . 
• ECON 122 CM  and ECON 160 CM  require completion of a college-level statistics course or equivalent.  ECON 120 CM  can serve as a prerequiste for these courses, and can also count as a Cluster 2 elective toward the major.
• ECON 122 CM  has a prerequisite of CSCI 040 CM  or equivalent.
• Cluster 1 electives are all level-I elective courses for economics majors, with the exception of ECON 151 CM , which is a level-II economics elective.
• Students who have taken CSCI 036 CM  may not earn credit for ECON 122 CM  or ECON 160 CM . Economics-Accounting majors who take CSCI 036 CM  will be required to complete an additional Cluster 1 elective as a replacement for ECON 160 CM .

Dual Major

The dual major in economics-accounting requires a minimum of 8 courses. Dual majors in economics-accounting may waive both of the Cluster 2 elective course requirements from the full major.

Students with a dual major including economics-accounting are encouraged to write their senior thesis on a topic in economics-accounting.

Honors in Economics-Accounting

Requirements for honors in economics-accounting are:

• A grade point average of 3.50 or better in the major at the time of graduation.
• Completion of ECON155 CM - Valuation and Reporting of Financial Liabilities and Equity (Intermediate Accounting II)  .
• Completion of a senior thesis containing substantial accounting content and reflecting superior understanding of accounting analysis. Compliance with these requirements can be established through either of two methods:
  1. The thesis is written under the direction of an Economics-Accounting faculty member as either primary or secondary reader.
  2. The thesis is written under the direction of any other Robert Day School faculty member as the primary reader and the topic is approved in advance, and verified upon completion, by the Director of the Economics-Accounting faculty as meeting the requirements.

Study Abroad

Economics-accounting majors are encouraged to study abroad. Normally, up to two Cluster 2 electives may be approved from a semester abroad, with approval from the economics-accounting department. ECON 152 CM , ECON 155 CM , ECON 158 CM , and ECON 191 CM  must be taken at CMC.
