The Public Policy Sequence will support the College’s mission “to educate its students for thoughtful and productive lives and responsible leadership in business, government, and the professions, and to support faculty and student scholarship that contribute to intellectual vitality and the understanding of public policy issues.”
The sequence will facilitate student mastery of the analytical tools, written and oral communication skills, and knowledge of governmental process required for professional and academic work in public policy. The sequence will take an interdisciplinary approach to policy that melds concepts from economics and political science. It will emphasize experiential learning through internships and faculty-supervised projects for clients such as Brookings, AEI, RAND, and the Bipartisan Policy Center via the Policy Lab course. Through coursework and experiential learning, the sequence will build the interdisciplinary skill profile necessary to compete and succeed in the competitive public policy job market, and will also help prepare students who are interested in pursuing graduate studies in public policy.
