The Portuguese program aims to develop a high level of proficiency in the major language functions of speaking, listening, reading, and writing, and to foster understanding of Portuguese culture, history, and society. The lower division courses focus on acquisition of the language proficiency and learning of Portuguese tradition and culture, while the upper division courses focus on analytical investigation of modern history, politics, and society.
Claremont McKenna College does not offer a major in Portuguese.
