CSCI 040 CM - Computing for the WebPractical computational problem solving by programming the Web and writing data analysis programs in a modern high-level language, Python. Web programming covers languages, tools, and techniques for developing interactive and dynamic web pages. Topics include page styling, client- and server-side scripting, web security, and interacting with databases. For data analysis students learn to write programs to analyze real world data found for example in science, the stock market, literature, psychology experiments, etc. Along the way students learn many fundamental concepts in computer science. Societal and ethical issues related to computing are also discussed. Intended for students who do not plan to major in computer science.
