Recent advances in technologies for engineering biological molecules have fostered a number of health therapeutic and diagnostic innovations. This course will consider the advantages, limitations, and ethics of current and developing bioengineering tools, strategies, and innovations from the molecular level
29 (e.g., biopharmaceuticals, gene editing, gene therapy, stem-cell therapies, immuneengineering, disease diagnostics) to tissues (e.g., tissue-engineered organs) to engineering biomes and ecosystems, such as gut microbiomes.
