PHIL 181 CM - Theories of HistoryThis course examines the nature of philosophy and history and their interrelations. Accounts of the past - including speculative philosophies of history - are considered critically in terms of the methodological problems they involve, the meaning of “explanation,” “causal connection,” “unit of interpretation,” “historical generalization,” and “objectivity” as distinguished from “subjectivity.” Also listed as HIST 178 CM .
