Gender and Sexuality Studies Sequence

Sequence Requirements
The gender and sexuality studies sequence requires completion of 5 courses, distributed as follows. Each course must equal one unit of credit, with the exception of internships. 1. Theoretical Perspectives (1 course)
Students must take one course that explores theories of gender and sexuality, such as a course in queer theory, feminist theory, and/or an introductory course on gender and sexuality studies. 2. Humanities (1 course)
Students must take one course that considers questions of gender in relation to arts and literatures, media studies, religious studies, or philosophy. 3. Sciences (Natural and/or Social) (1 course)
Students must take one course that considers questions of gender in relation to the social and/or natural sciences, including anthropology, biology, economics, psychology, sociology, government, history and/or international relations. 4. Electives (2 courses)
Students must take two elective courses selected in consultation with a CMC faculty advisor. In fulfilling the elective requirements, students are encouraged (but not required) to complete an experiential learning component such as a for-credit internship, study abroad course, community-based service learning course or an independent study course. Students may elect to satisfy one of their elective requirements with one or more for-credit internships adding up to one full credit (i.e., 2 half-credit internships or any other combination of credits). |
