PHIL123 CM - ImaginationOur powers of imagination are central to our lives. It is used for fanciful purposes, as when we daydream, fantasize, and make-believe, and it is also used for instructive purposes, as when we empathize with others, make decisions, plan for the future, and develop new theories. But what is imagination? What role does it play in our mental life? This class takes up a variety of questions about imagination in an attempt to achieve a philosophical understanding of its nature, its role in cognition, and its importance in both philosophical contexts and everyday life.
