GOVT154E CM - International Organizations and Global GovernanceIn this course we will examine the complex set of institutions, norms, and procedures that traditional and non-traditional actors use to manage common transnational challenges in the absence of an overarching global government. We are faced with shared, complex, and pressing global problems such as intra-state and inter-state conflicts, pandemics, underdevelopment and inequality, climate change, forced migration and displacement. These transnational issues require global action rather than piecemeal national responses. How do we do this without a central authority? We will focus on international institutions whose proliferation and influence have been distinguishing features of the post- World War international system.
