ECON177 CM - Economic GrowthThis course provides a comprehensive survey of economic growth combining both theoretical and empirical approaches. It examines how standard macroeconomic models and their extensions can explain basic facts about economic growth and GDP over time and across countries. The broad theoretical framework developed in the class is used to examine key issues related to growth, including the macroeconomics of development, the role of institutions in explaining global living standards, industrialization and structural change, global inequality, population growth and demographics, economic growth and climate change, and the emergence of artificial intelligence.
Prerequisites: ECON 101 CM , ECON 102 CM , and ECON 120 CM .
