GOVT138C CM - Latin American Politics and PolicyThis course approaches the understanding of Latin America through the lens of how governments, other state institutions, and civil society organizations address the most prominent public policy challenges across the diverse Latin American contexts. These challenges range from basic governance issues such as democratization and civil-military relations to socio-economic issues such as economic growth, social safety nets, and rights. In addition to readings and discussions about Latin America as a whole, particular attention will focus on Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, and Venezuela.
