HIST150 CM - African American History Since Reconstruction

This course covers the political, economic, and cultural experiences of Black Americans from Reconstruction in the late 19th century to the present. As in all systematic studies of the past, we will survey the record of what Blacks, their allies and adversaries did; what they did not do; and how and why the choices they made mattered to lived and material lives of Black people. Through the use of primary and secondary sources-both visual and textual-students will identify the major political and socioeconomic currents and changes taking place, at home and abroad, and examine their impact on American society.
