HIST132E CM - European Intellectual History: 16th Century to the PresentThis course examines the reorientation of European thought in the secularization of culture and the beginning of the modern state in the 16th century; the new ideologies concerning the relation of the individual, society, and nature with the rise of modern science in the 17th century; the emergence of ideas and progress of evolution in the industrial and post-industrial revolutions of the 18th to 20th century; post-modern thought in the late 20th century.
