HIST099 CM - Cold War AmericaThe Cold War dramatically shaped the politics, culture and society of the United States while giving the country an altered place in the world. This course provides both a way to think about U.S. History within a global context and an introduction to historical analysis, research, and writing. Topics include the Red Scare, Civil Rights, consumer culture, decolonization and CIA interventions, immigration policy, the Reagan Revolution, the fall of the Berlin Wall, and the dissolution of the USSR. We will pay close attention the relationships between domestic and foreign affairs and politics and popular culture.
