PSYC143 CM - Women and LeadershipHow do women leaders lean in? Break the glass ceiling? Navigate the leadership labyrinth? Over the past decades, women have taken on more leadership roles and have established themselves as leaders in all sectors. This course will examine various issues related to women and leadership. We will explore the personal, social, and structural dynamics that differentially affect women and men as leaders, particularly in terms of how they are viewed, how their contributions are evaluated, and what kinds of opportunities are available to them. Topics that will be addressed include the leadership styles of men and women, effects of stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination on women’s under-representation in leadership, women and leadership in various contexts, the balancing of work and family, and how women succeed as leaders.
