ID142 CM - Leading Social Innovation

Social entrepreneurs are motivated to see the world as it can be, not as it is. This course tackles the leadership opportunities and challenges of creating and sustaining innovative solutions to social problems-through nonprofit, for-profit, hybrid, or other models of change. Students learn about key determinants of social innovation: complexities of the world’s problems, theories rooted in psychology and business management, community building, governance and funding models, scalability, and impact measurement techniques. Students use the knowledge gained through case studies, readings, writing assignments, and class discussions to develop a social change project to address a cause of personal interest.
