Policy Statement

Claremont McKenna College honors the memory of students whose death predates their graduation from the College by affixing a placard with their name on the memorial plaque located on the north side of Kravis Center Lower Courtyard. The student’s name shall be listed on the plaque in the decade of their original matriculation to the College. A placard on the memorial wall is the College’s consistent physical tribute to honor deceased students. This tribute is distinct from any guidelines and practices the Office of Advancement would employ to work with individual families to memorialize students through scholarship funds, endowed gifts, building projects, etc. It is likewise independent of the Posthumous Letter of Arts in Collegiate Studies, which is granted upon approval of the faculty.

Entities Covered by this Policy

All units of the College.
