PHIL137 CM - SkepticismSkepticism about a particular subject matter is the view that nothing can be known about that subject matter. This course surveys various types of skepticism–such as external-world skepticism, religious skepticism, moral skepticism, and scientific skepticism–and the interesting relationships among them. We will also be paying close attention to the way in which skepticism interacts with more practical matters–e.g., if you have no reason to believe that the external world exists, do you still have reason to get out of bed in the morning?
Prerequisite: One previous course in philosophy or consent of the instructor.
