This course provides a topical and thematic exploration of the history of the United States since 1974. The intersections between political, cultural, social economic, and technological change serve as the course's main emphasis. Topics include political polarization, globalization, immigration and nativism, the AIDS crisis, family values and feminism, the Reagan Revolution and Yuppies, the War on Drugs and mass incarceration, and the birth of MTV and the internet.
