Trafficking in Persons

In all federal contract activities to which Claremont McKenna College is a party, the university complies with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) for Combating Trafficking in Persons, Subpart 22.17, in which “the United States Government has adopted a zero tolerance policy regarding trafficking in persons.”

As a federal government contractor and recipient, Claremont McKenna College, its assigned contract employees, subcontractors, subrecipients, subcontractor employees and subrecipient employees are prohibited from the following activities:

  • Engaging in severe forms of trafficking in persons during the period of performance of the contract;
  • Procuring commercial sex acts during the period of performance of the contract; or
  • Using forced labor in the perfomrnace of the contract.

It is the responsibility of the PI who received a award with these requirements to take the actions outlined below:

  • Notify his/her staff working on the award of the United States Government’s zero tolerance policy described in the above referenced Act and clauses, and the actions that will be taken against employees for violations of this policy. Such actions may include, but are not minited to, removal from the contract or grant or other disciplinary action including termination of employment.

The PI will notify the officer for Sponsored Programs immediately of:

  • Any information he/she receives from any source (including host country law enforcement) that alleges an employee, subcontractor, or subcontractor employee has engaged in conduct that violates this policy; and
  • Any actions taken against employees, subcontractors, or subcontractor employees pursuant to this clause.
